Pre/Post Operative Rehabilitation
Why Pre/Post Operative Rehabilitation?
At Motion Science Physiotherapy our physiotherapists are educated in pre/post operative rehabilitation, which means we can treat you before and after your surgeries! We use evidence informed assessment and treatment techniques to make sure that you heal at your best.
Pre-operative rehabilitation consists of an assessment in which we will take objective measurements of your capabilities prior to your surgery. You will be given a treatment plan to address any deficits prior to your surgery. This in turn will help make the post-operative rehabilitation phase smoother and quicker.
Post-operative rehabilitation at our facility is customized to address each patients needs and lifestyle. We take information gathered from a detailed assessment and use it to customize a treatment plan that will get you back to your LIFE. Our therapists also maintain a steady line of communication with your medical team to make sure you are getting the best level of care. Our initial assessment (includes treatment) is one hour and our follow-ups are 30 minutes. This will be a one-on-one session exclusively with your physiotherapist!
Our main goal is to help you get back to your pre-operative capabilities and improve your quality of life!

Manitoba Government Funded Post-Operative Hip and Knee Physiotherapy
The Manitoba provincial government is funding physiotherapy for post-operative hip and knee replacement surgeries.
To Qualify
- You must reside in Manitoba.
- Your surgery date must be on or after January 1st, 2023
- Your physiotherapy must start on or after April 1st 2023
What is Covered?
- Six individual on-on-one sessions with a registered physiotherapist
- Ten group classes
Coverage Details
If you have third party insurance coverage for physiotherapy, it must be used prior to any provincial funding. Here are some examples:
- Example 1 – The patient has no private or third-party insurance coverage
If you have no insurance the full cost of the appointment is eligible for coverage.
- Example 2 – The patient has third party coverage – Option to use MB Post Op funding as a secondary insurance
Patients with private coverage must first utilize their third-party insurance. If the coverage is 80% then the patient can use this MB Post Op funding as a secondary insurance to cover the remaining 20% of the appointment cost. This method will still cap at 6 visits, even if only a small portion of the funding has been utilized.
- Example 3 – The patient has third party coverage – Option to use MB Post Op funding once primary insurance has maxed
If the patient has private coverage, they may choose to pay for their appointments using this, and cover the remaining balance themselves. Once they have maxed their own insurance, they may use the MB Post Op coverage and they would have 6 individual session or 10 group sessions.
