Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese practice that’s used to treat several illnesses and ailments. It depends on the principles of “chi,” - the flow of energy in living organisms. Insertion points are chosen based on the traditional Chinese medicine philosophy - points that allow for the flow of energy.
The goal is to establish homeostasis (balance) between the differing flows of energy that run through each meridian. In TCM disequilibrium in these meridians leads to disease and illness.
It is often used when other forms of treatment have not worked or when the body is in a chronic state of disease or illness.
How Does it Work?
Acupuncture works by blocking pain signals from the actual site of pain (gate control theory). This stimulates the release of endorphins, and encourages the body to heal itself. The treatment is very safe. We use only disposable, single-use needles With a sterile application technique.
Technique
The needles are very thin and lubricated to cause minimal discomfort during treatment. Needles are placed in various points for 15-20 minutes. This helps to establish balance in the flow of energy going through each meridian. As required, needles are manipulated to improve the effects of the treatment.
